Green Power GenerationEnbridge Income Fund has interests in several environmentally friendly power generation projects — three wind power projects in western Canada and NRGreen, which generates electricity using waste heat from four of Alliance Canada's compressor stations.
Increasing interest in clean energy technologies on the part of government policymakers and the public at large is also expected to provide growth opportunities for the Fund.
The Fund has interests in three wind power projects in Alberta and Saskatchewan and four waste-heat electricity generating stations in Saskatchewan. These facilities, which have the capacity to generate up to 91 MW of emissions-free electricity, are supported by long-term, fixed-price power purchase agreements and are performing very much in line with expectations. We continue to explore opportunities to expand these facilities.
NRGreen, which operates the waste-heat recovery facilities located along the Alliance Pipeline, continues to look for opportunities to use this technology at other compressor stations along the Alliance Pipeline route and, more generally, at other facilities that employ gas-fired turbines for compression.
We will continue to focus on optimizing the performance of existing Green Power Generation assets while pursuing development of new infrastructure that fits with the Fund's goal of producing electricity from alternative energy sources.
